Zsófia Paksa

My name is Zsófia Paksa. I was born on 21/11/1986 in Zalaegerszeg. This town is situated in the western part of the country. I live with my family in a terraced house in a suburb of the town. My father is a mechanic and my mother is an anaethetist assistant who works in the County Hospital. I have a younger sister who is a 16-year-old schoolgirl.

At the age of 7 I was admitted to a special language class at primary school where I studied English for 8 years. Then I applied to the English-Hungarian bilingual class of Kölcsey Ferenc Grammar School, where I’ve been studying since 2001. If everything goes well I graduate in May 2006. I enjoy learning foreign languages, that’s why I chose this type of class. Here I study history, biology, geography & civilization in English. I also started to learn Italian two years ago and I hope to pass a language exam next January. My favorite subjects are languages, history & maths but I hate literature (I like reading though…) What I always wanted to do is learning Spanish and play the guitar but I simply don’t have more free time to pursue these „dreams”.

In my free time I like listening to music especially rock and rap. My favourite band is Guns N’ Roses. I have lots of friends. The best thing we can do together is watching films, going to basketball games, lying on the beach or just chatting. I also like watching sports games on TV – waterpolo, handball, basketball, Formula-1 and so on.

In the future I’d like to work in the tourist industry as a tourist guide or as an interpreter, but I’m also interested in festival organization and advertising. My most ardent wish is to speak foreign languages as much as possible.

I’m taking part in the Water and Fire project because it is a good opportunity to have contacts with students of my age from an other country, to exchange our thoughts & experiences and, of course, to improve my English and maybe to learn some Icelandic, too. I’m looking forward to starting the project.

P.S.: Elvar, thank you for answering my emails & being in touch with me! :)
