Valdís Ósk Sigurðardóttir

My name is Valdís Ósk and I'm 16 years old, I will become 17 in a few days, on 7th March. I live in Höfn (a small town), and I've lived there all my life. Except for 11/2 year when I was 2 and 3 years old, and my father was in the police academy, and also one summer, the summer before last when I was playing soccer with another team. Then I lived in Reykjavík (the capital), both times.

We are 5 in my family, me, my parents and my two siblings. I have an older sister and a younger brother. My father’s name is Sigurður and he works as a police officer and my mother’s name is Rósa Áslaug and she is a teacher, not in my school, thank god. :-P My sister’s name is Hulda Rós and she is 19 years old (born ’85). My brother’s name is Jón Guðni and he’s 11 (born ’93). I also own a parrot, a little one (I think it’s called budgie in English). He's green, and very social. My family owns a summerhouse not that far away from Höfn. It is about half an hour drive. I love being there.

My interests are mainly sports, music, singing, playing the guitar (though I can’t say that I'm any good at it) and I also like being around animals. My favorite sports are soccer and gymnastics. I have practiced soccer since I was 9 and I used to practice gymnastics, but I had to quit after 9 or 10 years of training because of injuries. I coach gymnastics now, so I'm not totally disconnected to it. I really like coaching, and it is a good job to have along with school. I like almost all kinds of music, but I listen mostly to rock, indie rock and pop rock.

In school I'm studying Natural Science, English, Danish, Spanish, Icelandic, Life Skills and Mathematics. Hopefully I will be able to finish school in three years. I'm planning to be some kind of a doctor. I want to go to another country to study and play soccer as well. I will probably go to Denmark, Norway or Sweden. I haven't decided yet.
